Calderhead High School parent council meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6pm in the school. If you are a parent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and observe one of their meetings. The parent council also have a Twitter account “@CalderheadPC” and the minutes of their meetings can be found on the school’s website. Shotts Gala Day If you shop online, you can now donate to this year’s gala day by using the following link: www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ shottsgaladay/. 3rd Shotts Scout Group The scout hall at 100 Benhar Road, Shotts, is available for any organisations in the community to use and requests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (Group Scout Leader) on 01501 821658. Shotts and District Rotary Club have their regular meetings every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. EU Congregational Church is open for prayer & reflection today from 11am with a short service from 11.30am until 12pm, followed by soup, tea and a chat in the big hall from 12pm to 1pm. Morning service is on Sunday at 11.30am and the singing group meets on Tuesdays at 7pm. Salvation Army Corps The friendship club meets on Tuesdays, at 1pm to 3pm. The youth club, toddlers’ group and Friday and Jam clubs are off this week. The service on Sunday morning at 10.45am is being led by Lieutenant Amy-Jo Battersby. The evening meeting is Messy Easter Church from 4pm to 6pm. This is a family activity and includes a meal and all are welcome to come along. Liz Sloan’s acts will entertain at the club in aid of the Moira Anderson Foundation on Sunday, May 27. The club are taking new bookings, so please get in touch if you would like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events and weddings. Tickets are also on sale for the Apprentice Boys of Derry fundraiser with the Prince of Wales Accordion Band and Carol Paris on Saturday, April 28. Lodge St John 471 The next regular meeting is next Friday, April 13 at 7.30pm in the orange hall. The business of the evening will be an FC degree, conferred by the Right Worshipful Master and office bearers of Lodge St James Harthill no 590. Community Council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings.
