for their first point of the campaign.

Late call- offs again disrupted their preparations and recently installed Davies said: “It’s certainly back to school this summer for the management team on the recruitment front.

“Last week we had eight call-offs and this week there were seven, with two of them coming on the day of the game.

“We can’t accept that at this level. We are working continuously all hours of the day trying to improve the club and it’s become a full-time job.

“All we ask for is a similar commitment from the players.

“Whilst the results haven’t been great for the club all season we are definitely making great strides for the future.

“We will see at least three or four new faces signing at the club this week.”

The last minute lack of numbers saw three kids plunged in against Vale of Leven.

After shipping four goals before the break they managed to stem the tide in the second half.

Davies added: “The three young boys hadn’t sat their highers but it was a credit to them for coming in and giving it a go and doing well.

“It’s fantastic for their football development. Both Craig and I have only been doing the job jointly for a few weeks.

“We are taking the positives from a bad situation. It’s allowing us to see what players we have, who we want to keep and to play trialists to see if they are good enough.”

Newmains next face Cambuslang Rangers at home.

Kick off is at 2pm.
