It’s hair today...

-

A Newmains mum and her daughter had a hair-raising day on Friday afternoon.

Joanna McKenzie and six-year-old daughter Paige had their long locks trimmed to raise cash for the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

Budding barber Les carried out the work himself at the DreamMaker Foundation’s base in Etna Industrial Estate in Wishaw.

Joanna said:“It was a good day. “There was no problem getting it cut but I am still getting used to it being as short as it is.

“Paige has been hyper since she got it done. She has been amazing.

“It’s all she can talk about it and she was laughing all the way through it.

“I don’t think Les realised just how thick our hair was so he was there for a wee while.

“There were a few videos that were put up on Facebook and it was a good laugh. We have raised over £400 so far and there’s still money coming in.”

As well as donating to the DreamMaker Foundation, Joanna and Paige’s hair will be going to the Little Princess Trust who provide real hair wigs to children and young adults up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Joanna would like to thank everyone who sponsored herself and Paige including the teams at Serco, Rainbow Blinds and the Imperial Bar in Wishaw.
