Calderhead High School parent council meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6pm in the school. If you are a parent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and observe one of their meetings. The parent council also have a Twitter account “@Calderhead­PC” and the minutes of meetings can be found on the school’s website. Shotts and District Rotary Club have their meetings every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. EU Congregati­onal Church is open for prayer and reflection on Wednesdays, from 11am with a short service from 11.30am until noon. This is followed by soup, tea and a chat in the large church hall from noon till 1pm. On Sunday, the morning service is at 11.30am and singing group meets on Tuesdays at 7pm. Salvation Army Corps the friendship club is on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 3pm. On Wednesday, the youth club meets from 6pm to 8pm. The toddlers’ group is on Thursday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am. Prayer meetings are held on Thursday evenings at 7pm. Friday Club and JAM Club are from 5.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting is at 10.45am and is led by Lieutenant Amy-Jo Battersby. Bon Accord Club The club is taking new bookings, so do get in touch if you would like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events and weddings. This Saturday, May 5, is the LOL 9 and LLOL 36 buffet dance. Tickets are still on sale for the LOL 26 and LLOL 185 supper dance, featuring a performanc­e from Dykehead Amateur Flute Band and dancing to Lee Scott on Saturday, May 12. Lodge St John 471 The lodge’s regular meetings are now in recess. The Sunday sweep club’s annual golf day will be held at Shotts Golf Club on May 6 at 12pm. Anyone who wishes to join for the 2018/19 season, should contact members of Lodge St John 471 as soon as possible. Community council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings. Slimming group has classes every Wednesday at 9.30am, 5pm and 7pm in Epic Studios, Shottskirk Road (above Ladbrokes at Dykehead Cross). Everyone going along will be made most welcome. New members are welcome. Artskool is an exciting project for children and adults alike. It offers art classes for all ages. Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds from 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand. The project’s thrift shop at 261 Station Road is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10am to 3pm; and the warehouse at 100 Calderhead Road is open Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 4pm. Advice and informatio­n is available Calderhead Erskine Parish Church The usual Sunday worship times have resumed at both Shotts and Allanton churches at 11am and 12.30pm respective­ly. The Kirk Session has appointed Rev Iain Murdoch to act as locum minister for Calderhead Erskine Parish Church of Scotland. Shotts Ironworks Bowling Club winners of the Loudon Trophy on April 28 were A Robertson, JK Tobertson and M Cameron. The next competitio­n will be the McKenzie Triples on Saturday, May 12, at 10am. In the Motherwell and Wishaw league tonight (Wednesday) Shotts take on Bellshill Moss at 6.30pm. On Saturday, May 12, there is bingo and dancing to Vicky Gold. On Saturday, May 19, there is bingo and dancing to Billy OneMan Band. Dates to look out for: July 21 - Gee Jay Wilson; August 11 - Lee Scott; September 8 - Gee Jay Wilson; October 13 - Lee Scott. ,the Allanton Parish Church service, Discovery club and creche is at 12.30pm in the church on Sunday. Mother and toddlers group meet at 9.30am in the church hall on Thursdays and the women’s guild gather in the annex that afternoon at 2pm. Youth group meets from 7pm to 9pm on Fridays in the senior citizen centre. All will be made welcome. Tenants’ and residents’ associatio­n are holding their annual general meeting on May 14 at 7pm in the senior citizen centre. The associatio­n are looking for new members, especially younger members of the community to come along and join them. All welcome.
