Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church On Sunday Derek Hughes will be drawing to a conclusion his short study into the Lord’s Prayer. All welcome to share in this most interesting reflection. For those unable to attend there is an opportunity to join in worship via the live stream on the internet at dalzielstandrews.org.uk BSL Signing and Electronic Notetaking are included both at the church and online to assist the deaf and hard of hearing. The Kirk Session meet on Thursday, May 10, at 7.30pm with the congregational board meeting the following Thursday at the same time. Befriend Motherwell continue their weekly walks, for the not so young, in Dalziel Estate on Monday afternoons. Contact Colin on 07715655831 if you would like to join in. Following the success of the initial event, the next Musical Memories afternoon, from 1pm to 3pm, will be held on Thursday, May 31, in the large hall at the church. All welcome. Refreshments will be served. On Saturday, May 19, from 10am until 11.30am the third community breakfast will be held at the church. An opportunity to drop in for a hot filled roll, a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. No charge made for attendance. Following Sunday worship on Sunday, May 20, a lunch will be held in the large hall with all proceeds going to support the fine work carried out by Christian Aid. The Guild outing to St Andrews and Crail will take place on Saturday, June 2,. A few seats remain available on the bus. Contact any Guild member for details. Motherwell Photographic Society Informal weekly meetings will be held each Thursday evening in the upstairs rooms of Holytown Community Centre. The meetings will continue, with the exception of the month of July, until the new season begins in September. Family History Lanarkshire Family History Society’s next meeting on May 10 will be the AGM, after which Dane Love will give a talk on the history of the Scottish Covenanters 1638-88. Dane, author of Scottish Covenanter Stories and The Covenanter Encyclopaedia, will use Lanarkshire examples where possible to guide his listeners through these turbulent times – from the signing of the Covenant to the Killing Times of the 1680s. His talk will be illustrated with images of memorials and gravestones to be seen across Clydesdale. Dane is the Honorary Secretary of the Scottish Covenanter Memorials Association. The talk takes place at 7pm in the GLO Centre, Muir Street, Motherwell; all welcome. Christian Aid Sunday, May 13, to Saturday, May 19, is the week of street collections for Christian Aid in Coltness. Door to door collections will be made by envelope donation or can collection. Authorised collectors will complete this work for Christian Aid. Christian Aid works to end poverty worldwide and has more than 70 years’ experience. In Christian Aid Week we give act and pray for those in poverty and need. Motherwell Diocesan Choir The choir will present Choral Classics for a spring evening in Motherwell Cathedral on May 16 at 7.30pm.
