National honour fore cafe
Windmills Café in Motherwell has added to its string of awards after being named a winner at the 2018 Scottish Independent Retail Awards.
The increasingly popular café in Brandon Parade East is also a registered charity which trains young people with learning disabilities in life skills and catering and hospitality.
The café was announced regional Eatery of the Year at a black tie event at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Glasgow last month.
A spokesperson for the seventh Scottish Independent Retail Awards said the awards aim to celebrate the hard work of the independent retail businesses in Scotland.
Organisers received thousands of nominations from the public recognising and rewarding the entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen which lies behind thriving independent retailers.
Windmills Café manager Joy Gillespie was delighted to pick up the award.
She said:“I am thrilled with this achievement and congratulate my whole team on their efforts.
“I encourage everyone to come and visit us, not only will you enjoy our fresh Arabica coffee and delicious homemade food, but also you will be investing in the lives of young people with learning disabilities.”
Windmills will host a programme of events showcasing the skills of young people with learning disabilities throughout May to coincide with Learning Disability Week.
The teams looks forward to the support of new and regular customers.
