HEAD TO HEADS

If the manager picks me then I’m going to make sure I go into the game and I’m going to give it everything.

“I’m not going to hold back, I’m going to give it my all.

“Sometimes the game can be won and lost in there (the midfield).

“We’re so focused on second balls and that so I’m sure the boys, whoever is playing in midfield, will be ready for the challenge and I’m sure they’re going to deliver.”

Campbell is also relishing the chance to become a Motherwell legend just like the ‘91 team, having picked the brains of a former winner before.

He said: “I remember when I was first coming in, the first two years at the club I went to college.

“Jim Griffin was one guy who took our class and we were always asking him about it (winning the cup). He told us how it felt. He said it was amazing so hopefully I can get that feeling too. That would be brilliant.” With a Louis Moult-shaped hole to fill in the Motherwell frontline, Curtis Main arrived without much fanfare at Fir Park halfway through the season.

What an instant impact the powerful striker has made though, notching a host of important goals including a vital double in April’s semi-final against Aberdeen. He will have to be at his bustling best though when he takes on Belgium international Dedryck Boyata. The former Manchester City stopper has been impressive recently for the Hoops.

It looks set to be a vital tussle between the two strong players. What an epic battle this could be in the centre of Hampden Park.

Motherwell youngster Campbell has earned rave reviews throughout the season for his industrious and swashbuckling performances across the country, earning a call-up to the Scotland Under-21 side in the process.

He absolutely dominated the Aberdeen midfield in the semi-final and will need to be at his fearless best when he takes on Celtic legend Brown.

The Celt continues to dominate opponents despite his age and will be desperate to go down in history as the skipper who led the Hoops to an unprecedented first double treble. How these two 21-year-olds deal with the Hampden cauldron will go a long way to deciding this tie.

Kipre has become a fan favourite in his first season playing for the Steelmen with his speed and power seeing him snuff out danger and dominating centre-forwards.

Fellow French-born star Dembele will give him his toughest test of the season yet and Kipre will have to keep his emotions in check, especially having been sent off in the BetFred Cup final in November.
