Tributes pour in for popular teenager

The death of another teenage boy has devastated the Shotts community.

Seventeen- year- old Kyle Inglis, described by pals as “one in a million”, was found dead last week near the town’s Dryfrig Street.

There were no suspicious circumstan­ces.

The popular youngster was honoured on Friday night when teachers and friends at t Calderhead High h School held a minute’s silence e before the S6 prom.

Head teacher John Robertson led d the tributes.

He said: “Everyone ne within our school ol community is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of one our former pupils, Kyle Inglis. “At this time all our thoughts and sympathy go out to his f family and friends. “Ky l e w i l l b e rem remembered fondly. He made a positive con contributi­on to the sch school and was a pop popular and valued me member of our com community. “We will provide ou our young people at Ca Calderhead with our fu full support to help th them during this m most difficult time.” Uddingston St Strathclyd­e Grade Th Three Pipe Band, of which Kyle’s dad John is a member, also paid tribute to the youngster by wearing black ties as they performed at Shotts Highland Games on Saturday.

A statement on their Facebook page said: “Sadly on Monday we found out that Kyle Inglis, son of one of our pipers, John Inglis, sadly passed away. A lovely young boy, with so much potential taken away so young.

“The band’s thoughts and prayers are with the family at this terrible time.”

Martial arts coach and family friend James Casserly said the whole town is “devastated”.

He told the Wishaw Press: “They’re the loveliest family and he was the quietest laddie.

“I met him every morning at my daughter’s snack van in Shotts. The family are very close and they are just wrecked. “The full town is devastated.” Tributes to Kyle also poured in on

social media from his friends.

Chloe Brown posted: “So gutted and heartbroke­n ... could not have met a nicer person or a better friend.

“We’ll miss you so much Kyle, thanks for the memories brother, you’ll never ever be forgotten.”

Alana Tweedie wrote: “Can’t believe I have to actually write these words about my best pal, what a boy you were Kyle.

“Amazing, and couldn’t get a nicer guy. Truly one in a million. I’m heartbroke­n.”

Chris Strang posted: “A smile hides a lot of things. Shotts is devastated for you and your family. Rest easy wee man.”

Kyle had left Calderhead High in S5 and was an apprentice engineer at Nichol Boilers in the town.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 12, at Calderhead Erskine Church.
