High hopes for Holly

Wishaw lass Holly MacLean has been crowned Miss Teen North Lanarkshire and is on her way to the national finals of a prestigious modelling contest.

Clyde Valley High School pupil Holly, 15, is one of the few girls aged between 10 and 19 from all over the UK to make it through to the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain at The Globe in Blackpool on October 23.

In their letter congratulating Holly on her place in the final, judges said they were impressed with her answers on their questionnaire and said she had a“great look for the competition”.

Fourth year pupil Holly, of Overtown, was nominated by proud mum Lesley.

“In the Wishaw Press last year, I read about a wee girl from Wishaw who got through in this contest and thought I’d send in Holly’s pictures,”explained Lesley, a secretary at Airbles Road Hospital.

“She has never modelled before, although she danced at the world championships and has been a cheerleader and she’s really interested in fashion.”

Holly and other finalists will compete for the coveted Miss Teen Great Britain crown and spectacular prizes, including £1000, dresses from The Dress Studio and cosmetics.

Organisers say the weekend of the Miss Teen Great Britain final is set to be full of fun, with finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day and a pyjama diva party.

Mum Lesley laughed: “She is a wee red-head. But if anyone calls her ginger she says she’s strawberry blonde!”
