IT’S THE CLIMB!
Tinto Hill Walk
Calderhead High School has always been keen to support the work of St Andrew’s Hospice and regularly carries out fundraising activities for the charity.
On Wednesday, May 23, our S1 pupils participated in the Tinto Hill Challenge, and climbed the hill in glorious sunshine.
The challenge is open to Lanarkshire schools who want to support St Andrew’s Hospice and our pupils and staff were delighted to take part. Well done everyone.
Mr Burgess
Staff and pupils at Calderhead High School were very sad to mark the loss of Mr Roy Burgess who recently passed away.
Mr Burgess worked at Calderhead High School for almost 40 years first as principal teacher of chemistry, then as assistant head teacher before taking up the post of depute head teacher of senior school.
For those of us lucky enough to have known and worked with him he will be remembered as being a great chemist, an outstanding teacher, a loyal friend and mentor, a raconteur, a fisherman and above all else a true gentleman.
For the many pupils fortunate enough to have been guided under his tutelage he will be remembered with great fondness for his compassion, his sense of humour, his loyalty and his unfaltering commitment to every pupil at Calderhead High School.
On behalf of all pupils and colleagues past and present of Calderhead High School we would like to express our sincere sympathy to Mr Burgess’ family.
Trip to M&Ds
S2 pupils had a fantastic time on their reward day trip to M&Ds theme park in Motherwell on Thursday May 24.
The pupils enjoyed the many attractions in the wonderful sunshine.
