Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church A busy Sunday lies ahead for the church this week. It will begin with an age service held during morning worship to mark the end of the term for the Sunday school and Fusion groups. All will be made very welcome. The morning worship service includes British Sign Language and electronic note taking for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. It is also available online at www.dalzielstandrews.org.uk, or for catch up later on You Tube. The next messy church event will take place at 3.30pm on Sunday. It will focus on young families and there will be lots of games, activities and fun with refreshments to start, concluding with a barbecue meal to finish at around 5pm. No charge will be made for attendance. Please register on the church’s website if you intend on attending this event for planning purposes. Although the spring term for the Sunday school and the Fusion group has now finished, there will be plenty for the youngsters to do each Sunday, with the start of the summer Sunday holiday club at 11am. It will meet each Sunday throughout the summer and take the theme of emoji bible stories, with lots of fun and snacks available. The congregational board is holding the final meeting before their summer break on Thursday, at 7.30pm. The next community breakfast will be held from 10am until 11.30am next Saturday, June 30. It is open to all with no charge made for attendance. All are welcome to drop in for a hot filled roll, a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. Although the prayer groups will not meet each week during the summer, there is still an opportunity for any prayer requests to be submitted, in total confidence. These can be placed in the boxes at the church doors or made via the church website. This year’s annual summer holiday club will be on the theme of Professor Potty’s Time Traveller’s Tales. This popular club for primary school aged children will run from Monday, July 30 until Friday, August 3, starting each day at 11am and finishing at 2pm (and includes a meal). Again, no charge will be made for attendance at the event. The church would like to thank all who supported the recent Awards for All submissions. The next Befriend Motherwell’s musical memories afternoon will take place next Thursday, June 28, from 1pm until 3pm. It is open to all, and includes people with dementia and their carers. Refreshments will be served with no charge made for attendance at the event. The Bank of Scotland’s foundation and Foundation Scotland are assisting with the costs of organising this event. Holey Soles Rambling Club The club’s next walk on Sunday, will be from Tindrum to Bridge of Orchy. The coach will leave from outside St Bernadette’s church hall at 9.30am. Rotary Club The guest speaker at last week’s meeting of the Rotary club of Motherwell and Wishaw was Tony Jones, of the Worldwide Cancer Research Charity which is based in St Andrews. Tony said that the charity is not well known in the public eye, but that it is highly respected in the cancer research world. He informed members that the charity funded projects in some of the best research institutions around the world, covering a diverse and unexpected range of initiatives.
