Gala bowling competitio­n The competitio­n was played at Castlehill Bowling Club last week. The gala pairs is always a popular game, which was won on the day by John and Bette Warwick who beat Ian Donnelly and Jim Finton to claim this year’s prestigiou­s 2018 title. The gala queen, Tammy Cunningham, was on hand to hand over the prizes to this year’s winners. Congratula­tions to all who took part in the competitio­n. Tammy also received a donation from the club for next year’s gala fund and was sincerely thanked for dropping by to present the winners with their awards. Street Level Members of the town’s Street Level group are asking for local residents to cast their votes in time for this year’s Tesco Bags of Help scheme. People can cast their votes and support the local group by placing a blue voting token in the designated area of the Carluke superstore. This will help the organisati­on to ensure that it receives the maximum grant possible from Tesco to fund the much-needed repairs to its Stewart Street venue. If you are shopping in the Carluke store, please ask a member of staff at the check out for a blue token on behalf of the Street Level management committee. Concert The town’s Primrose Orchestral Flutes will be holding their 38th annual festival showcase in Kirkton Church on Saturday at 7.30pm. Fresh from their recent award- winning performanc­e at the Glasgow festival, the talented musical group will include movie themed classics, as well as some toe-tapping jazz in this weekend’s programme to entertain the audience. Tickets cost £7 and can be bought from Stuart on 0791756687­2 or at the door on the night of the performanc­e. Family fun day Girl Guiding South Lanarkshir­e will take part in a fun day for all the family, which will be held in Chatelerau­lt country park from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, June 23. Entry to the event costs £3 for adults; £3 for children, with family tickets (for five people) costing £10, payable on the day. There will be activities for all ages including a climbing wall, trampoline­s, crafts and much more. People are asked to bring along their own picnics and enjoy a great day out for all. There is no need to be in the Girl Guiding organisati­on, all will be made welcome to come along and join in the fun of the day. Line dancing class continues in the church hall, from 12.30pm until 1.15pm today, for beginners’ and refreshers, and at 1.15pm until 2.45pm for the main class. All ages and abilities will be made welcome to come along and join this fun and friendly group, enjoy the “patter” and make friends in the process. Lunch club meets in the small church hall each Monday, from noon until 1.30pm. Lunch consists of hot or cold filled rolls with tea, coffee or juice, and this is followed by a dessert, all for the bargain price of £4. In addition, there is also a “carry out” facility available if required. Everyone welcome.

Hamilton Park Racecourse competitio­n Overtown Gowkthrapp­le

Community cafe is open for business as usual on Thursdays, between 11.30am and 1.30pm in Gowkthrapp­le Community Centre. The cafe serves tasty and affordable snack lunches and a place to enjoy a chat. There is also takeaway service available. Club Sun Fun Day is now on holiday and will resume in August.
