United get new deal for sponsor

-

Newmains United are set to spice up their season – after landing a bumper new shirt deal with an Indian restaurant.

Waterloo-based Pink Turban have agreed to be the revamped McBookie. com Central District Second Division side’s home jersey sponsor this term.

Now United are set to be hot stuff on AND off the park with the club promising to curry favour by holding some of their events at the wellrespected family-run venue too.

Securing a major backer was always high on the menu after a new committee took charge of the club following their merger with Carluke FC.

Now co-boss Paul Davies reckons the link-up with the Pink Turban can help them put the right ingredients together when the campaign kicks off.

Davies said:“To work with a local business at the heart of the community was always our intention. To get one of the calibre of the Pink Turban is absolutely fantastic for us.

“They have been in Waterloo for years and have a great reputation for supporting local teams.

“Believe me, their support will not be underplayed by anyone at our club.

“With the support staff we have I can guarantee we will be doing all we can to give them maximum value, both through the football team’s performances and with various off-field initiatives.

“We hope them coming on board will open the door to others getting involved and we welcome anyone else with an interest to get in touch.”

Football-mad owner Rai was keen to back Newmains after seeing their actions so far – and being told of their future ambitions.

A competition involving local primary school kids designing their new badge proved a huge hit – and he can’t wait to work on similar creative initiatives involving the restaurant.

He said:“I really want to thank all the customers I’ve had over the years for their support of the Pink Turban.

“I thought one way of doing this would be to support the local football team.

“I am very much looking forward to working together with Newmains United.”
