New play area opens
Residents in the Bellside area of Cleland were celebrating the completion of a new play area in the centre of the village.
The play area was officially opened by Councillor Louise Roarty and Mark Clinton, vice chair of Cleland Community Council.
Staff from North Lanarkshire Council, CultureNL Play Services and Cleland Community Council worked together to create the new facility, which boasts a range of equipment including a toddler multi-activity unit, pyramid climbing net, swings and a cable runway so children and young people can have fun and enjoy playing outdoors.
Wishaw Local Area Partnership allocated £30,000 from the Local Development Programme to develop this new amenity.
Councillor Roarty said:“This is a wonderful new facility for the children of Bellside to enjoy and is a direct result of Culture NL Play Services and North Lanarkshire Council working in partnership with the local community to meet their aspirations.”
Mr Clinton added:“The play area has already been well used and local children are playing outside much more. It is great to see the new play area bringing life back into the village. As a community we would like to pass our thanks on to North Lanarkshire Council and our elected members who have been supportive throughout the project.”
