High school holds annual prizegiving
Former pupil was chief guest Win £20 of butchermeat
Calderhead High School’s Annual Awards Ceremony was recently held in Calderhead Erskine Parish Church.
The guest speaker was Dr Michelle Carlin, senior lecturer in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry at Northumbria University and a former pupil of Calderhead High School.
Dr Carlin delivered an inspiring speech about her time at Calderhead and her subsequent career, including stories about Harry Potter jumpers and her work with the Institut de Recherche Criminelle de la Gendarmerie Nationale (IRCGN) in Paris.
Dr Carlin is an expert toxicologist and was interviewed by news channels across the globe in response to the Novichok nerve agent attack on the former Russian spy, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter earlier this year.
Attendees enjoyed wonder ful mus i c a l performances from piper Douglas Pinkerton and drummers Mackenzie Forrest, Morgan Lynch and Caitlyn Paxton.
The school’s junior and senior choirs sang beautifully and there were marvellous solo performances from Carly Ogilvie and Sophie Whyte.
A spokesperson said: “Well done to all our award winners, with special mention for our Dux, Jade McPhail, and Proxime Accessit, Kayleigh McLean, and to our former School Captains, who were awarded the Provost Cup for their outstanding contribution to our school community.”
