Shotts ship four against Cambuslang Rangers

Shotts Bon Accord lost their last pre-season friendly in an entertaini­ng six-goal thriller.

Cambuslang came out on top in the 4-2 match on the weekend at Somervell Park, with a number of Shotts players getting valuable game time ahead of their competitiv­e opener against Wishaw Juniors this Saturday.

Dean Sutherland was replaced early on by Scott Mckean after picking up an injury, before Andy Cross had Shotts first chance of the match - a low shot which was blocked well.

The visitors went in front when Jordan Halsman slipped the ball through to Mckean, who finished well from inside the box.

Lang equalised from the restart though when Gemmell fired home.

After half-time, the home side took the lead in emphatic fashion when Gemmell fired in his second - a superb 25-yard curling strike that drew applause from the entire crowd.

He then turned provider two minutes later when Hastings fired in number three.

A stunned Shotts gathered themselves and replied in 69 minutes, when a Jordan Craig free kick was forced forward by Chris Faulds, and ushered over the line by Andy Cross from close range.

Craig had Shotts next effort following a route one ball to Michael Collinder who delivered into the box, but the effort went wide.

Craig and Collinder combined again, this time the winger having two attempts, the first well saved by the home keeper and the second hitting the side netting.

Two minutes from time, the Lang got number four through a fine strike from Davidson.

Shotts next welcomewis­haw Juniors to Hannah Park on Saturday for the opening game of the Sectional League Cup.
