Calderhead High School parent council The next meeting will take place in September. If you are a parent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and observe one of their meetings. The parent council also have a Twitter account “@Calderhead­pc” and the minutes of meetings can be found on the school’s website. Shotts gala day If you shop online, you can now donate to next year’s gala day by using the following link: https://www.easyfundra­ising.org.uk/ causes/shottsgala­day/. 3rd Shotts Scout Group The scout hall at 100 Benhar Road, Shotts, is available for any organisati­ons in the community to use and requests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (group Scout Leader) on 01501 821658. Bon Accord Club The club are taking new bookings, so do get in touch if you would like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events and weddings. For more informatio­n, contact the club on 01501 821542 or visit their Facebook page, where photos of the hall dressed for weddings and events are on display. 32 Social Club has entertainm­ent for members and guests as follows: On Saturday, September 8, Shotts District LOL 32 will host their annual buffet with dancing to Malcolm Dougal and Billy Fox. Tickets for the event are on sale now. Community council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings. Slimming group has classes every Wednesday at 9.30am, 5.30pm and 7.30pm in Epic Studios, Shottskirk Road (above Ladbrokes at Dykehead Cross). Everyone going along will be made most welcome. Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds at 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand. The project’s thrift shop at 261 Station Road is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 10am to 3pm; the warehouse at 100 Calderhead Road is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm. Charity nomination The 1st Shotts Girls’ Brigade Company is in the running for this year’s Asda Foundation’s Green Token giving award. Nomina- tions for all the local groups involved can be found on the notice board, which is located near the exit of the Newmains branch of Asda. The Shotts brigade need as many votes as possible to enable them to win the award. Residents are encouraged to ask for a green token at the check out when they finish their shopping and post it in the box marked, 1st Shotts Girls’ Brigade, before leaving the store. Calderhead Erskine Church The Kirk Session has now appointed Rev Iain Murdoch as locum minister for Shotts Calderhead Erskine Parish Church of Scotland. Please also let him know of anyone who is sick at home or in hospital. Services at Calderhead Erskine church commence at 11am every Sunday in Shotts and 12.30pm in Allanton. Ironworks Bowling Club There will be bingo and dancing to Johnny Weir on Saturday, with Gee Jay Wilson the following week on September 8. Look out for the popular Lee Scott who will be performing in the club on October 15. The November show will feature Lauren Kyle and Just Uz, on November 2; tickets cost £5 and these are available by contacting 07510 6848260.
