Newmains wore their new curry name squad numbers but Johnstone Burgh were just too hot to handle.
The Victoria Park side had chalked up their first league win for 16 months seven days earlier.
But they failed to make it two in a row as the Renfrewshire outfit ran out 2-1 winners.
David Banks put the home side in front five minutes before the break but The Burgh netted either side of half-time to leave with all three points.
United were decked out in their new kit, which is inspired by the menu at local Indian restaurant the Pink Turban, one of the home shirt sponsors.
But after his side failed to serve up a victory co-boss Craig Gupwell said: “It was a disappointing performance and we just never got started.
“They caused us problems from set pieces for most of the first half and we just didn’t seem to cope with them. We seemed to invite the pressure onto ourselves.
“We took the lead against the run of play through David Banks, who is on fire, which is great to see.
“It’s a disappointing result but we need to look at things and remember how far we have come since last season.
“Everybody is still on a high and realises we have the ability in the squad we need. The whipping boys from last year is now a thing of the past.
“Morale is still high and everyone is looking forward to the next game and to go out and prove themselves.”
It was a disappointing afternoon for the home side after such a convincing performance the previous week.
But they had actually been the side who struck first as half- time approached.
A counter-attack saw Banks latch on to a long ball and his shot took a deflection to beat visiting keeper Gavin Wallace.
But the away team hit back moments later from a corner, as Ross Geddes rose highest to crash home.
The Burgh’s winner came on the hour when Kieron Magennis slipped his shot under keeper Gordon Bruce.
The curry strips are sure to raise eyebrows. Instead of surnames they carry a name of a dish which can be bought from the Pink Turban, including bhoona, korma and madras.
Gupwell added: “The idea of the curry names on the back creates a bit of humour and has got people talking.
“The boys have had a good bit of banter about it.”
