We could have hit ‘em for 6

-

Wishaw Juniors gaffer Kieran Mcguinness was delighted to see his team seal all three points against Maryhill - and insisted the scoreline in no way reflected how dominant his side were.

Wishaw squandered a host of chances to make the game secure before winning 1-0, and Mcguinness said after the game his side must be more ruthless to keep up a charge on the top end of the table.

He said: “If we hadn’t won that game I think it would have been time to chuck it.

“Fair play to Maryhill for digging in and it was one of those where with all the missed chances it could have come back to bite us.

“But at half time I said to the boys that if we were five or six up, Maryhill couldn’t have complained. We were that dominant.

“We need to work on our finishing going forward because we can’t be passing up that many chances from five or six yards out.”

Nevertheless Mcguinness was pleased with how many chances his side created and was delighted his back four finally picked up a clean sheet.

He added: “I’ve been on at the back four for weeks to try and get us a clean sheet and I’m pleased they managed it. They were comfortable and we limited them to very few chances.it’s good to get points on the board and I’m really happy with how the new team has come together so far.

“I’ll still be looking to get a few more in as we’re still a bit thin on numbers.

“When the senior window shuts we’re hoping to get a couple more in then.”
