Family run for Wishaw hospital

A youngster is set to swap her school shoes for trainers and fundraise for awishaw hospital in memory of her baby sister.

Little Charlotte Milton will be taking part in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run Family Mile later this month in a bid to help to fund a maternity bereavemen­t suite at University Hospitalwi­shaw.

Charlotte sadly lost her baby sister, Ellie Grace, on April 13 this year after she was born asleep at 32 weeks, weighing only 3lbs 14oz.

Kind-hearted Charlotte now hopes to raise vital funds for a bereavemen­t suite within the Wishaw hospital’s maternity unit to give families of stillborn babies the chance to grieve and say goodbye.

The seven-year-old Monklands youngster will be joined at the race on September 29, by her mum Lucy-jane and friend Lisa, while her dad Graham, Uncle Neil and two friends will participat­e in the 10k on the following day.

Lucy-jane said:“as a family, we are very much looking forward to running the race together. “Charlotte is a very active little girl. “We want to raise as much money as possible to help fund a bereavemen­t suite for the maternity department atwishaw General hospital after the fantastic care they have provided to our family upon the loss of our baby girl.”

She explained:“a bereavemen­t suite for the parents of babies who are stillborn is an essential resource in helping grieving families come to terms with their loss, as well as making it possible for the midwifery staff to continue the crucial work they do in supporting families like us.”
