Readers slam cruel nurse

-

Residents were shocked as we revealed a nurse was struck off after a Wishaw care home called in the regulators. A disciplinary hearing found Jacqueline Theresa Kelly, employed at Beechwood Care Home, stopped a Wishaw patient from leaving the dining room by trapping her chair in place. My mum has been in Beechwood since March and the care she receives is fantastic.

I’m so glad this horrible person was suspended and subsequently struck off thanks to the staff there. Ann Alexander My mother had dementia and I would have hated to think anything like that would have happened. Pat Cassidy Can’t stand people like that. Why was she employed there when she already had complaints in her old work place? Valerie Woods No words for how disgusting that conduct was.

Refusing to check on a dying patient, refusing to give food, scaring dementia patients. Vile. Ava Croft Really don’t understand why people take on these jobs when they are so vile towards the patients. Laura Milroy Those poor residents.

I hope they and their families feel better in the knowledge she won’t be nursing again.

Thank god for those carers that spoke up against her. Laura Cuthbert Thewishaw Press have kicked off a fantastic new feature to find our readers’digital picture of the week.

It can be photograph, selfie or image that you or your children have taken on a digital camera, ipad, or smartphone.

We are looking for either a picture that you have taken in thewishaw area or perhaps a selfie of your family while you were on holiday at home or abroad, or Wishaw Poundland is All Shock Up becoming ‘Graceland’ in a off-one tribute to the King. The self-checkouts at the store on Wishaw Main Street are taking on the legendary voice of Elvis Presley until the end of children’s drawing on an ipad.

We would also like pictures of your special occasions, such as wedding anniversaries, children’s birthday parties, retirements dos, family celebrations, party pictures, club or group pictures, or any other big day or charity event.

All you have do is send your picture to us at news@ wishawpress.co.uk or contact us through our Facebook andtwitter pages.

Please make sure you include your name, address and contact details and information about your picture. the month in a bid to cheer up shoppers. I thought I was going crazy the other day thinking that the self checkout was singing to me. Laura-ann Bence Tracy Mcalonan Thought I was going off my head listening to the checkout singing and talking to me. Christine Mclaughlan I think it’s quite funny. It puts a wee smile on your face.

It might brighten up someone’s day. Danielle Quigg Wishaw fly-tippers are now more likely to be caught on camera. North Lanarkshire Council has invested £115,000 in CCTV cameras to monitor locations where illegal dumping is a problem. Readers were unconvinced the extra cash would make any difference and fly-tipping would remain a problem. Would be great if they could put cameras behind the shops on the Main Street to catch the undesirables drinking, taking drugs, buying alcohol for underage kids and just generally trashing the place. Erin Riddell How about the rubbish that’s washed out of bins at the side of the street every other week? Scott Mcleod
