Scott fights for shot at British title

-

Shotts scrapper Scott Allan hopes sparring sessions with his latest opponent can help him put another belt around his waist.

The Celtic bantamweight title will be on the line when Scott, nicknamedtitletaker, faces Gary Rae at the Paisley Lagoon Centre on October 6.The pair have already been on opposite sides of the ring during sparring and Scott hopes this knowledge will help in his quest to defeat the unbeaten Barrhead fighter.

He said:“gary’s a strong lad.we had a good few rounds of sparring.

“I don’t think he’s as quick as me so in this fight I’m going to have to put the pressure on him.

“It’s all about me keeping the pressure on and not giving him a minute.

“Gary’s a good prospect. He’s unbeaten and he will want to keep that up.”

The fight will also be a final eliminator for the British title, which will be in the hands of either Jamiewilson or Scott’s long -term foe Kash Farooq.

Despite juggling fatherhood and organising a charity night with brother Sam at their Rivals Gym inwishaw, Scott remains fully focused on the fight and is set to embark on a four-day training camp with quality sparring in preparation for the clash.

“I always keep myself fit and I’m raring to go,”said Scott.

“If I can get through this fight and win then a lot of doors will open for me.

“Having a crack at the British title would be brilliant.”
