Danny burns Shettleston

-

An inspired Danny Burns hit a hat-trick to fire Shotts to third spot in thewest League One table.

Shettleston quickly found their feet at Hannah Park and were comfortable playing the ball around in their own half but rarely threatened up the other end.

The Bon Accord, however, soon got their heads down and worked hard all over the pitch before taking the lead with their first meaningful attack of the match.

Jordan Halsman released Burns down the left before he slotted the ball just inside the far post in the fifth minute.

Other reasonable chances were missed later on after a period of sustained play in midfield which brought neither side much further on.

Shotts took over after the break with Ally Martin and Adam Hunter running the game from midfield.

Burns slipped through the offside trap on the halfway line stretched his legs in an extended run and clipped the ball past the keeper to double the score in the 66th minute.

Two minutes later he got his hat-trick when he was on hand to tap intaylor Evans’careful pass. Craig Crawford and Junior Smith ruled the roost for the hosts in front of Johnny Murdoch all game, although the keeper must have been disappointed with conceding a goal 17 minutes from time from an albeit brilliantly struck free kick by Craig Johnston.

The win moved Shotts level with this weekend’s opponents, Blantyrevics.
