TV presenter’s passing brings back memories

What’s your favourite kids telly show?

Children’s television presenter Geoffrey Hayes sadly died last week, aged 76.

The celebrated star was best known for appearing alongside kids TV favourites Zippy, George and Bungle in more than 1000 episodes of Rainbow.

This week we asked Wishaw shoppers what their favourite childhood TV programmes and entertaine­rs were back in the day and what kids’ favourites are now.

Joanne Kelly,of Wishaw was out shopping with her son Patrick when we caught up with her last Tuesday.

Joanne said: “I loved Care Bears and Trolls. They were definitely my favourite back in the day.

“I’ve got great memories of watching them both.”

Four-year-old Patrick’s favourite show is Number Jacks.

Mum Joanne added: “It’s all that’s ever on our TV at the moment.”

Muirhouse Primary pupil Aaron John Mcfarlane said he’s got lots of favourite programmes he likes to watch.

The five-year-old said his ultimate favourite is classic cartoon Scooby Doo. Aaron said: “I love Scooby Doo. “The bad guys who chase Scooby are always my favourite.”

Caitlin Grace Devine said she loves watching Nickelodeo­n.

She added: “Victorious is my favourite show.”
