Midwife Maureen up for top award
A Wishaw hospital worker is in the running to win a prestigious award at a ceremony which pays tribute to the hard work and dedication of healthcare professionals across the country.
Mau reen Mcsher r y , a consultant midwife at University Hospital Wishaw, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Midwife Award at the Scottish Health Awards 2018.
The Midwife Award, which is sponsored by the Royal College of Midwives, recognises an individual midwife providing excellent, evidence-based NHS maternity services and care in Scotland.
Maureen was applauded for her hard work and commitment with one nomination form stating: “Maureen has been a midwife for over 30 years, always working in her native NHS Lanarkshire.
“She has led innovative and positive improvements in the maternity service and has always encouraged other midwives to have ideas and supported them to improve the quality of the care.”
To reach this stage, each finalist has already been assessed by a panel of NHS Scotland representatives and Scottish Government Officials and will now go on to the award ceremony in November where the winner and two runners up will be announced.
