And neighbour ‘at breaking point’

-

Natalia isn’t the only one claiming to be “living in hell” in Tarbert Avenue.

Upstairs neighbour and close friend Helen Bradley said her life has been hell on earth since she moved into her ‘mould ridden’ flat 15 months ago.

Mum-of-two Helen says she’s at the end of her tether dealing with constant problems she faces in her property which she has already spend thousands of pounds trying to fix.

As well as having mould in most of the rooms, her flat had problems with woodlice. It also had condensation problems due to the lack on ventilation fans which causes water to run down her bedroom wall.

Helen said: “My life has been complete hell on earth. I’m honestly at breaking point now.”

Over the last 15 months, NLC workers have made several visits to Helen’s property, however she claims her house is still not up to scratch.

She added: “Yes the council have been out at my property several times but the place is still a disaster zone. I found mould at the back on my wardrobes a few weeks ago. All of my clothes are ruined.

“I told them for months that were was a smell of dampness coming from my bathroom floor. They told me it was a condensation issue and installed a fan and told me to put a cloth in the corner of the bath to stop any drips of water. This did not work. Eventually the council came back out and lifted the floor only to find rotting wood underneath. I think this was where the woodlice infestation started.”

Helen added: “The list of problems I’ve encountered is endless. I just want everything to be fixed.”

Brian Lafferty, head of housing property, said: “A survey was carried out at this property earlier this year, which confirmed there was no dampness present. However, the property was experiencing condensation build up and we applied an anti-mould solution to the affected areas.

“We received no further complaints of condensation until the beginning of this month and were not contacted regarding any woodlice infestation.

“We will contact the tenant to discuss the matter and offer further assistance to improve her current situation.”
