New homes are set to be built on vacant grassland in Wishaw as part of an “ambitious” housing project by North Lanarkshire Council.
The mixture of 61 single and two-storey houses and flats will be constructed at a site off Dimsdale Road.
Members of the council’s planning committee conditionally approved the application at a meeting held on Thursday, January 31.
A council spokesperson explained: “Ou r ambitious new build programme will see 61 homes constructed on the site off Dimsdale Road in Wishaw with one, two and three bedroom properties, including cottage flats, terraced houses, wheelchair accessible bungalows and semi-detached houses.
“This is the latest development to go ahead in the council’s NL Homes programme which has seen almost 600 new homes completed and a total of 5,000 new homes (including 550 buy backs) delivered by 2035.”
The site is currently vacant grassland which is zoned for housing.
There are already homes on three sides of the plot.
