Band at Square One
Lanarkshire band Misplaced are ready to take on the Glasgow music scene with new release Square One.
The five piece consist of Kyle Beaton on vocals, Kenneth Hilling and Nicholas Woods sharing guitar duties, Richard Smith on bass and Chris Roarty on drums.
Misplaced were formed at the end of last year and have been working on new music since. They fuse pop-punk and emo themes to create their own unique sound.
Drummer, Chris, from Cleland, has played in a few bands in the past and studied music at the Academy of Music and Sound in Glasgow.
“We can’t wait to show people the work we have put in,”explains Chris.
“We wanted to make sure everything was perfect before we released the tracks.
“We worked with producer Ricky Beetlestone down in Ramsgate, England in January this year.
“We were there for eight days and the five of us shared a two bed AIRBNB. It was the cheapest way to do it!”
Ricky Beetlestone is best known for his work with English rock outfit Moose Blood, who split up last year.
Singer Alex said:“it was great to work with someone who understands the genre. He is a big fan of pop-punk and emo music and all his suggestions really made the experience that bit better.”
The band were also played in popular Glasgow rock clubthe Cathouse over the weekend.
He added:“i go there all the time so to hear our song played was surreal. It was mental, they played something like Blink-182 before ours so to go from them to hearing our own song felt special.”
Misplaced’s new single Square One was released last Friday and is on all major streaming platforms.
On August 2, their second single Struggle will be available to hear as well.
“We have single releases planned until the end of the year and a couple of other cool announcements to follow,”said Chris.
“We have great support slots booked and we want to put our own shows on.”
