“He’s good to watch. He’s rangy and uses that to his advantage.

“You’d never think he was a boxer to meet him because he’s so polite and well-mannered.

“His hand speed is fantastic and you can tell he’s starting to hurt people as he develops physically.

“He’s been well noticed by coaches I know in England and abroad which is testament to him.

“He’s more than ready to move up and the sky really is the limit for him.” side Wigan Athletic.

And he is delighted to put an end to his near-five year spell with Brentford which he admits never caught fire as he had hoped.

Speaking to ifollow Latics, he said: “I was hoping to come on loan here about 18 months ago but that never materialis­ed.

“I’ve had it in my my mind that I’d like to come here (to Wigan) for quite a while so I’m just glad to get it done.

“For the last couple of months (at Brentford) I was sitting on the sidelines so I’m glad to have a new start and I’m looking forward to it.”

Macleod will have a few familiar faces at the DW Stadium already, with Josh Windass and Kal Naismith former pals at Rangers.

He added: “Unfortunat­ely I know Josh Windass already!

“I spoke to both of them quite a bit about the club and I was actually on holiday with Josh through the summer.”
