Wishaw kids had a ball on their summer hols

The break is nearly over for youngsters

There was no better feeling as a kid than when the summer break kicked in and you had six weeks of freedom ahead of you.

Unfortunat­ely for Wishaw kids, the end of their time off is fast approachin­g with the school gates swinging back open again next week.

For some the holidays will have flew by, while others will be wishing for just one more week off.

We caught up with youngsters and their families in Wishaw to find out what they’ve been up to over the break this year.

Netherton mum Katie Groom and her nineyear-old daughter Katie holidayed at home.

Katie said: “We went up to Nairn and had an absolutely lovely holiday. We went sightseein­g on Loch Ness - we didn’t see Nessie though!

“She’s about to move into P6 at St Brendan’s

and loves school so she’s ready to go back.”

Wishaw granddad Tom Sommervill­e had his grandson James up to visit from England.

He said: “He likes Scotland a lot and we’ve been around to lots of parks. We also went to an air show at East Fortune, although it was so wet we didn’t manage to see a lot!”

Pather papa Robert Syme was enjoying time with his six-year-old grandson Bobby.

He said: “Bobby has been to Butlins and Blackpool this summer. He definitely doesn’t want to go back to school yet!”

Motherwell man Hugh Innis and daughter Angel had a ball at Ayr caravan site. He said: “We go to caravans all around Scotland and had a great time in Ayr this year.”
