Friendship Club is on Tuesdays from 1pm till 3pm.

Will present their annual charity tournament this Sunday, August 11. Since it started, back in 1984, the event has raised over £300,000 for charities.

This year, the recipients will be Lanarkshir­e Cancer Care and the Maggie’s Centre, based at Monklands Hospital.

A grand raffle will also be held and donations of prizes would be gratefully received. 32 SOCIAL CLUB

Has entertainm­ent for members and guests on Saturday, August 10, with the annual dance featuring dancing to Gee Jay Wilson and Rebeka.

Is an exciting project for children and adults alike.

It offers art classes for all ages. Mondays from 6pm till 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am till noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-yearolds from 6pm till 7.30pm.

On Wednesdays from 6pm till 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards.

Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand.

Entertainm­ent for members and guests this week will include bingo in the lounge on Sunday at 1.30pm, bingo in the main hall on Monday and Thursday at 9pm.

A September holiday weekend special will see the popular entertaine­r Justuz plus a guest vocalist who will perform in the club on Sunday, September 29.

Entry costs £6; doors open from 2pm to 6pm.

CHURCH

The morning service, Discovery club and creche is at 12.30pm this Sunday, August 11. LUNCH CLUB

The lunch club runs on Mondays and Wednesdays at the usual time in the the senior citizens’ centre. New members welcome. YOUTH GROUP

The youth group meets on Fridays in the senior citizens’ centre, between 7pm and 9pm, and welcomes any new members who would like to come along and join them. MINERS’ SOCIAL CLUB

Allanton Miners’ Social Club have entertainm­ent for members and guests throughout the week.

On Tuesday, there will be indoor bowls, pool and darts from 7pm till 11pm.

On Thursday, there is bingo with play your cards, pool and darts from 7pm till 11pm.

On Friday, there is pool, darts and karaoke in the refurbishe­d lounge at 7.30pm with free entry.

OVERTOWN

CHURCH

The morning service in Overtown Parish Church this Sunday, August 11, is at 11am with a creche for younger children.

All visitors to the church will be made most welcome. LUNCH CLUB

The lunch club serves lunches each Monday from noon until 2pm.

Two courses are provided for £ 4, comprising of main course with tea/ coffee or juice followed by dessert.

A take away service is also available if it is required.

Come along, enjoy a nice meal, in convivial company each Monday.

All will be made welcome at the lunch club. LINE DANCING CLASSES

The line dancing classes take place on Wednesdays from 12.30pm in the church hall, starting with a beginners’ and refreshers’ class.

This is followed by the main class from 1.15pm until 2.45pm, where all ages and abilities will be made very welcome. CEILIDH DANCE

A ceilidh has been arranged in the village on Friday, August 16, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

Popular musicians, Keith and Roy, will make a welcome return to the entertain the crowds on the night.

A light supper will be provided in Overtown Church Hall, but people are asked to bring along only non-alcoholic drinks. Tickets are now available to buy at a cost of £6.

BONKLE

CHURCH

There will be joint service at Coltness Memorial Church this Sunday, August 11 with Sunday school and creche at 11am.

Speak to the minister if you know of anyone in need of a pastoral visit. BONKLE ARTS AND CRAFTS CLASS

The class meet on Tuesdays at 7pm to 9pm in the large hall of Bonkle Church. New members will be made most welcome. FOOD BANK

The food bank thanks everyone for their continued support and is open in the village on Wednesdays at 1pm.

The group are running low of donations of tinned items including meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.

Donations of pasta, rice, pasta and rice meals, noodles, tea, coffee and toiletries are also required.

Any donation would be greatly appreciate­d.

These can either be dropped off in the trolley at the Newmains branch of Asda or handed in to the church. LISTENING LOUNGE

The Listening Lounge will be open from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesdays.

All are encouraged to come along for a chat and some company, or a change of scenery and to relax and unwind. BIBLE STUDY

The Bible study group gather on Thursdays at 10.30am in the office of Coltness Memorial Church. SLIMMING WORLD CLASS

The Slimming World class takes place in large hall of Bonkle Church on Saturday mornings at 8.30am. New members welcome. RECYCLING

Bonkle Church are collecting used Inkjet cartridges and old mobile phones to be recycled in aid of the Breast Cancer Awareness charity.

Anyone who would like to donate any used cartridges or old mobile phones is asked to leave them in a bag at the front of church or speak to Gladys for more informatio­n. COMPUTER CLUB

The computer club will be starting back on Monday, August 19, at the usual time.

This will take the form of a teaching class where new teachers are required.

Any prospectiv­e teachers who are interested in volunteeri­ng their services are asked to contact a member of the computer club. CHURCH MAGAZINE

Any submission­s for the next edition of the church magazine should be handed in to Ian by 2pm on August 25. CONCERT EVENING

An evening of music and song will take place on Tuesday, August 29, in Bonkle Church at 7pm, featuring the Coltness and Bonkle church choir.

Tickets cost £4, includes tea and home baking, and anyone requiring a ticket for this event should speak to Margaret Chalmers. MEN’S CLUB

The men’s club will resume after the summer holidays on September 4.
