DALZIEL ST ANDREW’S PARISH CHURCH

With the summer holidays drawing to a close, Rob Jones will lead all in worship on Sunday morning at an all age service.

This will mark the start of next week’s return of all sections of the Sunday school, Fusion group and creche. All children most welcome.

This Sunday the service will again be available live on the church website, (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) with a special stream available for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Assistance will be provided on Sunday by Helen (BSL signer) and Paula (electronic note taker).

For those unable to share in worship, either at the church or live online, there is an opportunit­y to catch up later via You Tube.

Next week, in addition to the commenceme­nt of the Sunday school, the service will also include a baptism. A great way to start the new session.

All are welcome to come along and share in this special occasion at the church.

The sisterhood will hold their August get-together today at 2pm in the church.

The craft class will resume on Monday morning at 10am. New members are always welcome.

This year’s Holiday Club at Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church was another great success.

Teambuilde­rs was held each day for a week with the usual great number of children attending and sharing in crafts, songs, and activities all organised and supervised by a large team of volunteers.

A feature of the DLSA Club is the inclusion of a mid-day meal prepared and served by church volunteers with the Club very indebted again to Tesco Bellshill for their marvellous support in providing fruit, juice and other provisions for the lunch.

Nadine Pender from Tesco not only brought the fruit but spent time with the children in tasting sessions.

Catrina Laird, general manager at the Bellshill Tesco dropped in to see for herself the fun and games enjoyed by all taking part. Knights of St Andrew RBP 476 Wishaw would like to inform members and friends of the Annual Of Derry Celebratio­ns that its monthly meeting is on Friday,august 9, at 7.30pm in Wishaw Orange Hall.

On Saturday the group will parade first in Wishaw at 8am then proceed to Motherwell and onto the main parade in Bathgate.

They will parade again in Wishaw at 3.30pm from Wishaw Orange Hall and return there for meals with entertainm­ent in the evening.

They will welcome Sir Knights from Ulster and England and hope all have an enjoyable time. HOULDSWORT­H BOWLING CLUB

The monthly dance is on Saturday, August 24, with dancing to Sean Lynch plus bingo and a treasure chest. On other Saturday’s the lounge will be open as normal. SOUTH WISHAW PARISH CHURCH

The half hour Wednesday service starts at noon. Terry’s invitation to prayer will begin today between 1pm and 3pm.

Sunday worship is a shared service with Wishaw Old Parish Church and during August these services will be held in South Wishaw.

These services will be conducted by Rev Terry Moran starting at 11am.

The next Filling Station meeting is on Thursday, August 22, at 7pm in the Aroma Café in Stewarton Street.

Names for the church family outing to Ayr on Sunday, May 25, are required as soon as possible.

CHURCH

Joint services with Cambusneth­an North Church will continue to take place throughout the summer this Sunday, August 11, in Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Church.

The above service will start at the earlier time of 10.30am.

All church organisati­ons have now finished for the summer months and will resume in the autumn.

Entertainm­ent this week sees social dancing in the concert hall plus cash bingo on Thursday.

A cabaret and dancing plus bingo on Friday; cabaret and dancing in the concert hall with Feedback Duo and Samantha J. Mairs plus bingo on Saturday. Snowball of £150 and treasure chest. Dancing to Johnny Weir plus bingo on Monday and Slimming World class at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.

The card making group on Wednesdays will run over the summer at a changed time of 9.30-11.30am at the Greenfield Drive centre.

All other groups have now finished for the summer and will resume in August.

The Club 365 programme will continue over the summer holidays for children between the ages of P1- P7 who are entitled to free school meals.

It will run daily between 11.30am and 1.30pm; all youngsters are welcome and parents will be able to sign up their children on the day at the centre.

It will follow a World Explorers theme, to which all kids are welcome to come along and join in.

GALA DAY

The committee are seeking new members to join them along with their regular helpers to prepare for next year’s gala day event in the village.

Their next annual general meeting will be held in early August, to which all are welcome to attend. CLASSES

A computer basics course will give technophob­es an introducti­on into using a computer with an SQA qualificat­ion available at the end.

It runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The course will provide informatio­n about tablets, computers, ipads, Skype, email, using a Kindle, and smart phones.

A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains primary school. It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. STRUTHERS CHURCH
