This Sunday sees the commenceme­nt of the Creche, Sunday School and Fusion (Bible Class) at the church.

A l l c h i l d ren most welcome from 11am on Sunday morning. Rob Jones will lead worship for all with assistance for the deaf this week provided by Helen (BSL) and Linda (Electronic Notetaking).

For all who are unable to attend the church building there is a welcome to join in worship by going to the church website home page and clicking on the Watch Live link. The Youth organisati­ons will soon be enrolling for the new session. Girls Brigade start on Wednesday, August 21, with Rainbows on August 19; Brownies the following week; and Guides on Monday, August 26. All sections of the Boys’ Brigade start on Friday, August 30. New young ones always most welcome at all organisati­ons. ROYAL ENGINEERS

The next branch meeting will be held on Monday, August 19, at the indoor bowling club, Coatdyke, Coatbridge, commencing at 7.30pm. North Lanark s h i re Heritage Centre is showing the film Hercules (U) this Saturday afternoon.

Children aged 5+ can enjoy crafts from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, priced £2.

The card making group on Wednesdays will run over the summer at a changed time of 9.3011.30am at the Greenfield Drive centre. All other groups have now finished for the summer and will resume in August.

The Club 365 programme will continue over the summer holidays for children between the ages of P1-P7 who are entitled to free school meals.

It will run daily between 11.30am and 1.30pm; all youngsters are welcome and parents will be able to sign up their children on the day at the centre.

It will follow a World Explorers theme, to which all kids are welcome to come along and join in.

GALA DAY

The committee are seeking new members to join them along with their regular helpers to prepare for next year’s gala day event in the village.

Their next annual general meeting will be held in early August, to which all are welcome to attend. CLASSES

A computer basics course will give technophob­es an introducti­on into using a computer with an SQA qualificat­ion available at the end. It runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The course will provide informatio­n about tablets, computers, ipads, Skype, email, using a Kindle, and smart phones.

A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains Primary School. It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. STRUTHERS CHURCH

Struthers Pentecosta­l Church at the Old Gospel Hall on Bonkle Road hold their meetings on Wednesday at 7.30pm. FUN DAY

St Brigid’s Church Hall in Newmains is hosting a family fun day this Saturday. It will run from 11am until 2pm, there will be lots of free activities for kids including a bouncy castle, face painting and fun games. There will also be free hot dogs and chips, as well as a tea room for adults.

CHURCH There will be joint service at Coltness Memorial Church this Sunday, August 11 with Sunday school and creche at 11am.

The food bank thanks everyone for their continued support and is open in the village on Wednesdays at 1pm.

The group are running low of donations of tinned items including meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.

Donations of pasta, rice, pasta and rice meals, noodles, tea, coffee and toiletries are also required.

Any donation would be greatly appreciate­d.

These can either be dropped off in the trolley at the Newmains branch of Asda or handed in to the church. LISTENING LOUNGE

The Listening Lounge will be open from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesdays.

All are encouraged to come along for a chat and some company, or a change of scenery and to relax and unwind. BIBLE STUDY

Concert Evening An evening of music and song will take place on Tuesday, August 29, in Bonkle Church at 7pm, featuring the Coltness and Bonkle church choir.
