Bike thief is wheely sorry

He posts online to find the owner

- LEONA GREENAN

Waking up with a hangover and a vague recollection from the night before can often leave you with the absolute fear – but for one Carluke man it went to a whole other level this week.

For hungover Lewis Wilson, 20, was left mortified after looking out of his window to discover he’d taken home a random bike during a drunken night out with friends.

In fact his alcohol-fuelled antics forced the make-up artist to take to social media on Tuesday afternoon to appeal for help in finding the rightful owner of the purple Muddy Fox bicycle.

And in a matter of hours Lewis’ hilarious video, where he says he has a “flashback of me stealing the bike from someone’s garden” notched up thousands of views, likes and shares.

In the viral video posted on Facebook last week, Lewis starts off in his hallway saying “So I was at my friend’s house last night having a few drinks and I’ve ended up coming home with....”

As he makes his way out to his garden the camera pans around to show viewers the item in question and Lewis adds: “Someone’s purple f***ing bike.

“I have never seen that bike before, I have just got a flashback of me stealing that bike from someone’s garden and cycling it down the road.”

Clearly mortified he adds: “So whoever this bike belongs to, please mail me and I’ll drop it off to your door.

“Please share this guys because that could be somebody’s daughter’s or somebody’s mother’s or somebody’s gran’s and I’ve f***ing stole it from someone’s garden.”

Lewis ends the video by laughing apologetically and stating: “Oh my god, I’m going to jail.”

Lewis said: “Although I’m having a wee chuckle in the video, I am mortified about it and very sorry.

“My hope is that the bike is reunited with its owner very soon.

“It just goes to show the silly mistakes you make when you’ve had a wee tipple!”

The video had been shared over 700 times within a few hours in a bid to reunite the bike with its owner.
