Morning worship will take place at 11am on Sunday in Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church and will be led by Rob Jones.

Assistance for the deaf this week will be provided by Steven (BSL signer) and Paula (electronic note taker).

The service is also available to watch live via a link on the church’s website, dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk.

A separate stream is also available for the deaf or hard of hearing for catch-up on You tube afterwards.

The creche, Sunday school and Fusion groups are now all active now during the 11am service each Sunday. New recruits are always welcome.

The Girls’ Brigade Company will resume their new session on Wednesday of this week with the Rainbows on August 19 and all sections of the Boys’ Brigade starting on Friday, August 30.

Brownies and Guides will resume their normal sessions next Monday, August 26, and all girls are welcome to come along and join in the fun.

The first community breakfast of the autumn will be held in the large hall of the church on Saturday, August 31, at the usual time of 10am to 11.30am.

All are welcome to drop in for a hot filled roll, a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. No charge will be made to attend this event. PHOTOGRAPH­IC SOCIETY

Autumn is coming and with it the long nights so, what will you do to fill them?

Why not come along to Motherwell Photograph­ic Society’s opening night where you may find your new hobby.

It is a friendly club with a varied syllabus throughout the season, which runs from September to April.

Each week the club offers guest speakers, competitio­ns or practical nights.

There are also instructio­nal nights, primarily aimed at beginners and novices. Topics include, photo compositio­n, camera control and photo editing software such as Photoshop.

The new season will start on Thursday, September 5 with the open evening to which everyone is welcome. If you have a camera you are welcome to bring it with you on the night.

The Society meets on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm in Holytown community centre, on Stevenston Street, Holytown.

It is suitable for everyone with an interest in photograph­y, no matter what their levels of expertise.

The half hour Wednesday service starts today at noon and will include communion.

Terry’s invitation to prayer continues today between 1pm and 3pm, all welcome.

Sunday worship this Sunday is the last shared service with Wishaw Old Parish Church and celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s supper.

Elders on duty are reminded to be at the church for 10.30am.

The family outing to Ayr is this Sunday, and the bus will leave from the church after the Sunday service.

Items for the next edition of the Compass magazine should be passed to the minister by this Sunday.

Session group meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm and will be followed by a session meeting at 7.45pm.

The coffee morning for Macmillan Nurses is on Saturday, September 7 between 10am and 1pm.

Admission costs £3 and is payable at the door. Donations of baking can be handed in to the church from 9am that morning. HOULDSWORT­H BOWLING CLUB

The 2nd Cambusneth­an Boys’ Brigade Company will be enrolling for their new session on Friday, between 7pm and 8.30pm, in Cambusneth­an North Parish Church halls.

All boys who would like to join the company for this session will be able to enrol on the night or ask for more informatio­n.

The youngest group, the Anchor Boys for boys in primary 1-3 meet weekly on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 7.20pm, the Junior section for boys in primary 4-6 runs on Monday nights from 7pm to 9pm and the Company and Senior sections meet on Friday nights from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Activities at the centre on Greenfield Drive, Wishaw this week sees on Mondays: alternativ­e dance - noon to 1pm.

Tuesdays: Tots of Fun parents’ and toddlers’ group 9.30am to 11.15am, walking group meets at the centre 10.30am to noon, gaming group for S1s and over 7pm to 9pm and senior bingo 6pm to 9pm.

Wednesdays: card making group 11.30am to 2pm, football for P1s and over at the Cambusneth­an pitches 6pm to 8pm. Thursdays: lunch club noon to 1pm. Please inform the centre if you would like to attend on Tuesday, so that they can order your meal.

New members are welcome to join this club, and Your Thursday Club at 2pm to 4pm.

The girls’ group, community cafe (soup and sandwich), Zumbatonic and after school club, all resume next Monday, August 26.

GALA DAY

The gala day committee are seeking new members to join them along with their regular helpers to prepare for next year’s gala day event in the village.

Their next annual general meeting will take place in the small lounge of Robin’s Bar on Thursday, August 29 at 7.45pm. New members are always welcome. CLASSES

A computer basics course will give technophob­es an introducti­on into using a computer with an SQA qualificat­ion available at the end. It runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The course will provide informatio­n about tablets, computers, ipads, Skype, email, using a Kindle, and smart phones.

A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains Primary School. It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. STRUTHERS CHURCH

The September edition of the Communion magazine has now been put back to September 29.

Anyone wishing to submit materials for the magazine should hand these in to Ian by 2pm on September 1. CONCERT

An evening of music and song will take place next Thursday, August 29, in Bonkle church at7pm, featuring members of the Coltness and Bonkle choir.

Tickets cost £4 and includes tea, coffee and home baking.

Anyone who would like to purchase a ticket for this event should speak to Margaret Chalmers at Bonkle church. ARTS EXHIBITION

An exhibition featuring the work of the talented members of the Bonkle arts and crafts group will take place in the NCT Centre in Newmains next month.

All members of the community are invited to come along and view the paintings at the event which will run from 9am to 5pm, starting on Monday, September 16 until Friday, September 20.

The group meets on Tuesday evenings in Bonkle church hall between the months of March and October and new members are welcome.

All are welcome to visit the exhibition and have a chat with some of the members about their work. CHARITY DONATIONS

Bonkle Church are looking for members of the public to donate any of their used Inject cartridges or old mobile phones to help raise funds for the Breast cancer awareness charity.

Anyone who has any of these items which they would like to donate, is asked to leave them in a bag at the front of church or speak to Gladys for more informatio­n.
