ADVERTISING FEATURE Quality care from top team

-

Delivering care with a smile is the philosophy at Abbey Dale Court Care Home in Hamilton.

It’s been a successful year so far for this busy home with glowing reports from Care Inspectors and plans for expansion to allow residents to enjoy even more activities.

The care home is the first in Lanarkshire to introduce an admissions nurse who is the first point of contact and who will become the face of the home to the person who is considering moving in.

And manager Charlie Allan, who has 20 years of care home experience under his belt, believes that this is a vital part of the service that they offer.

“Having a care admission nurse is something that we believe will help the individual who is coming to live at Abbey Dale Court. The nurse becomes the point of contact for the person and their family the whole way through the process and this works well,” said Charlie.

“The wellbeing of our residents is what we are doing here and is at the forefront of our care, from the moment someone visits us to ask about becoming a resident to them moving in, their wellbeing is at the heart of our care for them.”

The care home is set to open a new 25-bedroom unit with a pool table and cinema room for the new residents to enjoy.

A new occupational therapist has also started with Abbey Dale Court Care Home who will be helping residents beat the waiting lists for treatment.

Charlie added: “We have residents who have to wait to go and get help if they have broken bones and sometimes have to wait to get seen by an NHS therapist so we decided that it was worthwhile having our own in the home.”

Staff at the care home ensure they spend time to fully understand and appreciate medical, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

And the home’s work with its residents has been praised by the Care Inspectorate CAPA programme, Care About Physical Activity, for its activities that the residents take part in each week.

It has also been recognised for its activities with an Oomph wellness award.

They are about to embark on a 12-week walking course with rangers at Chatelherault where they will enjoy a stroll around the stunning park.

Charlie said: “We have fantastic residents here who deserve the best care and that includes their physical health and also their mental wellbeing, we all work tirelessly to make sure that we deliver the best care for them at Abbey Dale Court Care Home.”
