Jennifer is on the right page in life
A Wishaw teenager is combining studying for a degree with writing her second novel.
Jennifer Loudon’s latest release, The Three Worlds, was released at the start of the month.
The 19- year- old has managed to fit in writing her second book with studying for a degree in biology, immunology and pharmacology at the University of Strathclyde.
Jennifer said: “I find it quite therapeutic to be honest.
“I first started writing the first draft back in 2017 during the summer holidays when I was at high school.
“It took me two months to write and from then it was all about editing and getting everything sorted for the book to be published.
“I just love putting the story together and creating characters.”
The Three Worlds centres around main character Zygus.
When Zygus’ father disappears without a trace, the world as he knows it is about to change forever.
Finding himself on a mysterious new planet, he is instantly welcomed into its community.
As frightening creatures warn him to leave, Zygus discovers the world’s gateways and learns of a terrifying third world where creatures of nightmares lurk.
Jennifer had her first book published when she was just 15 and a pupil at St Aidan’s High School.
The Key of Time told the story of hero Daniel and his adventures through the “glistening sheet of gold” that took him to another time in history.
The novel was hailed by publishers as “an enchanting and compelling book which you will find difficult to put down”.
Jennifer is hoping The Three Worlds will go on and have similar success but insists she will be focusing more on her studies – for now.
“At the moment I am treating it as a hobby,” she added.
“But in the future, of course, it would be something I would want to do full time.
“I still want to get my degree first though. A third book is on the back burner just now but that could all change.”
