The Keswick in Motherwell event will return to Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church at 7.30pm this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Jonathon Lamb will be preaching on the book of Jeremiah with Iain Watson of Praise Gathering adding musical accompanim­ent to the evenings. Check the Keswick in Motherwell Facebook page for further details.

On Sunday Rob Jones will lead the worship with assistance for those who are deaf being provided by Helen (BSL signer) and Paula (electronic note taker).

The craft group will resume on Mondays at 10am with the prayer group on Wednesdays at 1pm, and choir practice that evening at 7.30pm. New members are welcome to join any of the above groups.

The next messy church event will take place on Sunday, September 22, starting at 3.30pm with refreshmen­ts. Crafts and fun activities will be on offer, concluding with a meal at 5pm, served in the church hall. All young families are welcome to attend. No charge will be made for attendance. Any families who would like to attend can register via the church website.

The monthly community breakfast will now run on the third Saturday of the month. The next breakfast will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 10am until 11.30am. Again, no charge will be made for attendance. Hot filled rolls and refreshmen­ts will be served, all welcome. PHOTOGRAPH­IC SOCIETY

The new season began with an open evening in Holytown Community Centre. It was well attended with members old and new enjoying an opportunit­y to meet and discuss their summer activities. Linda Greenhill, club president, welcomed everyone to the start of the new season and outlined the upcoming syllabus. It promises to be very interestin­g with excellent speakers and a variety of practical nights scheduled over the coming months.

A slide show of some of the members’ digital images was shown, while a series of prints were also on display. For practical experience, the lighting system had been set up in the hall, allowing people to try their hand at portrait and still life photograph­y.

At this week’s meeting the speaker will be Janet Russell whose presentati­on is entitled “My Pictures”. It is also the handin night for the first projected image competitio­n.

The Society meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in Holytown community centre, on Stevenston Street, Holytown. Anyone with an interest in photograph­y is welcome to come along. At Thursday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw Andrew Murray gave his presidenti­al address in which he outlined his hopes and ambitions for the the club for the new 2019/20 session. He said that Rotary nationally was undergoing a radical change and the club must follow suit. Falling numbers was a problem and the president gave details of how he and the council could increase membership. He said: that “the club programme of events with key note speakers was quite exceptiona­l and it was up to members to extend invites to friends and business associates along to these meetings”. Past president Paul Begley updated members on the recent pigeon derby which was won by Paul himself with the birds of Tom Agnew and David Mcleod coming second and third. LANARKSHIR­E FAMILY HISTORY GROUP

The first meeting of the new session will take place on Thursday, September 19, when the guest speaker will be Kate Keter. Kate is a graduate of the University of Strathclyd­e’s Genealogic­al Studies grogramme and is a tutor on their courses. Her presentati­on will be on “Family History Resources on the Internet”. The half hour Wednesday service starts today at noon and Terry’s Invitation to Prayer continues between 1pm and 3pm, all welcome. Sunday worship will be conducted by Rev Terry Moran at 11am and Kingdom Kids also runs that day. The youth clubs meet at 7pm on Saturdays in the church hall. Session group meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm. WISHAW UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

The service on Sunday is at 11.15am in Coltness Community Centre, conducted by Mr Robert Eaton. Everyone welcome. The Girls’ Brigade Company has resumed its new session and meets every Thursday at 6.30pm. Places are available for any girls in primary one and above who would like to join.

The service on Sunday will be held at the usual time of 11.30am in Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Church. It will be led by Ian White who continues as locum minister. The Anchor Boys meet on Tuesdays between 6pm and 7pm, and the Junior section of the Boys’ Brigade runs on Mondays between 7pm and 9pm. The Company and Senior sections for P7s and over resume on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm. All sections meet in the church halls. The Girls’ Brigade Explorers, Juniors, Seniors and Brigaders will resume tonight, at their usual times, in the church halls. Officers look forward to welcoming members, old and new.

Christian Aid’s “The Power Walk” event will take place on Saturday, September 14 around the Whitelee wind farm in Eaglesham. Entertainm­ent for members and guests begins with social dancing in the concert hall plus cash bingo on Thursday; cabaret and dancing plus bingo on Friday; cabaret and dancing in the concert hall, plus bingo on Saturday. Snowball of £150 and treasure chest.

Dancing plus bingo is on Mondays, and Slimming World class is at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.

The upcoming show of the month with Jubilee and Ricky Wilde will be hosted on October 11; tickets cost £5.

Tuesdays: Tots of Fun parents’ and toddlers’ group 9.30am to 11.15am, walking group meets at the centre 10.30am to noon, community café- noon to 1pm, Zumba for five to 10 year-olds 3.30pm to 4.30pm, and senior bingo 6pm to 9pm.

Wednesdays: football for P1s and over at the Cambusneth­an pitches 6pm to 8pm. Thursdays: lunch club noon to 1pm. Please inform the centre if you would like to attend on Tuesday, so that they can order your meal.

New members are welcome to join this club, and Your Thursday Club at 2pm to 4pm.

A new Flash Club (after school club) will run from 3.30pm to 5pm every Wednesday during term time. Doors will be open at 3.15pm for those wishing to complete their homework in a quiet area.

All children between the ages of P1 to P5 are welcome to join this club.

There will also be a snack bar for kids who would like a healthy snack throughout these sessions.

All children must be accompanie­d by a parent or guardian.

A new community crafts group runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm every Wednesday during term time; it costs £2 per person, and offers an opportunit­y to try something new, be creative and have a chat with friends over a cup of tea and biscuits. All are welcome to bring along their own craft supplies or these can be provided, if required.

GALA DAY

The gala day committee are seeking new members to join them along with their regular helpers to prepare for next year’s gala day event in the village. New members are welcome. CLASSES

A computer basics course will give technophob­es an introducti­on into using a computer with an SQA qualificat­ion available at the end. It runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am. A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains Primary School. It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm.

A community event will be hosted on September 21, in the NCT Centre in Newmains with a show, featuring the Men of Motown followed by a disco. The evening will kick off at 7pm until late.

An exhibition featuring the artwork of members of the Bonkle arts and crafts group will take place in the NCT Centre in Newmains. It will run from Monday, September 16 until Friday, September 20 between 9am and 5pm. All are welcome to view the paintings, chat to members about their work, and perhaps consider joining the group.

It meets on Tuesday evenings in the hall of Bonkle church, between the months of March and October. SHOEBOX APPEAL

Bonkle church will be supporting this year’s Blythswood charity’s shoebox appeal. Organisers hope to match the 250 boxes donated last year and distribute­d to people in need across Eastern Europe by Christmas. Items required include shower gel, shampoo, face cloths, sponges and soaps. Any donations would be appreciate­d. BONKLE LADIES FELLOWSHIP GROUP
