Love makes his mark with brace

Shotts stunning start to league campaign continues

- BEN RAMAGE

SHOTTS 3 -1 CRAIGMARK Shotts Bon Accord’s incredible start to life in the Championship has continued after a JordanLove inspired win at Hannah Park.

The Bonny went into the game hoping to keep up their early momentum, and after an even first half Love hit the first of his brace when he headed home from a corner.

He then put the finishing touches to an excellent move that saw him link up with Craig Hastings, before returning the favour as he set up the midfielder.

Despite a late consolation for the visitors, Shotts held on to hang onto their impressive third place position.

Manager John Mckeown is delighted his hit man has kept up his scoring exploits despite moving up a league, although he revealed he was never worried Love would struggle to adapt.

Mckeown said: “Jordan is a terrifically talented striker. He was with Dundee United as a kid and did the business at Cambuslang before so I never doubted that the goals would dry up when we moved up to the Championship.

“His link-up play and finishing was excellent on Saturday, as it has been all season.

“We’ve just got to keep him fit now as he’s absolutely flying at the moment.”

Shotts are sitting third in the Championship thanks to their latest win.

And Mckeown feels that the sky is the limit once he gets a full-strength side to pick from, with a host of starters currently sitting on the sidelines.

He said: “The boys are doing so well and the atmosphere in the dressing room is excellent at the moment.

“Some of the guys need a break though as we’re still missing a host of key players.

“Chris Smith, Adam Hunter and Craig Crawford are all still out which has meant I’ve had to play some boys more than I would have liked to.

“We’ve got guys playing through injuries which is never ideal but they’ve shown their character really well.

“They’ve stepped up and not shied away which says a lot about their character.”

Shotts travel to face Kilsyth Rangers on Saturday, with Mckeown certain they’ll provide a sterner test than Craigmark having just beaten Dalry Thistle 6-1.
