MOTHERWELL AND WISHAW

PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

The first speaker of the new season was Janet Russell of Carluke Camera Club. Her presentation was entitled “My Pictures” and contained prints extending over many years. Janet gave details of each print with a brief explanation about it. Several of her prints were “composites”, a mixture of two or more prints resulting in an enhanced image. She said that she “always tried to incorporate a storyline into her photographs” and this was evident in many of her prints.

During her presentation Janet gave the members hints on building a library of images that could be used as backgrounds. She also suggested keeping a record of steps when using processing software and trying out new ideas. Brian Saberton gave Janet a warm vote of thanks for her fantastic presentation.

It was also the hand-in night for the first projected image competition with a good number of entries submitted. Results and feedback will be available on September 26.

On Thursday , the members will view the Royal Photographic Society’s wildlife portfolio. In previous years, the portfolio has provided a stunning selection of images and it is expected this year’s will be of an equal calibre.
