EU Congregati­onal Church will be open today (Wednesday) for prayer and reflection from 11am with a short service from 11.30am until noon. The toddlers’ group runs in Shotts Salvation Army Corps on Thursday mornings at 9.30am to 11.30am. The prayer meeting and Bible study runs at 7pm on Thursday evening, and the JAM club is on Fridays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The Sunday morning meeting is at 10.45am, and the friendship club runs on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. Is an exciting project for children and adults alike. It offers art classes for all ages. Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds from 6pm till 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand. Shotts Golf Club held their annual charity event on Sunday, September 15. The sun shone and everyone enjoyed their meal. A successful grand raffle concluded the evening. Although numbers were down from last year, due to the change of date, the charities will still benefit. The club thank all local sponsors and businesses for their support. The final amount raised will be publicised in the coming weeks. LODGE

CHURCH

The morning service in Overtown Parish Church this Sunday is at 11am. There will be a crèche for younger children. All visitors to the church will be made most welcome. The church will be open on Wednesdays from 11am to noon for quiet prayer and contemplat­ion LUNCH CLUB

Serves lunches each Monday from noon until 2pm. Two courses are provided for £4, comprising of main course with tea/coffee or juice followed by dessert. A takeaway service is also available if it is required. LINE DANCING CLASSES

The classes are held on Wednesdays in the hall of Overtown church, starting with a beginners’ and refreshers’ class from 12.30pm. Followed by the main class from 1.15pm until 2.45pm, all ages and abilities are welcome. WOMEN’S GROUP

The ladies of the women’s group welcome all, including any local gentlemen to an evening of nostalgia. Former Radio Clyde DJ, Dave Marshall, will present an evening of song, fun, and laughter from a bygone era. It will be an open evening to which all are welcome. It will be hosted in Overtown Church tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm.

Admission costs £5; and includes a light supper.

CLELAND

COUNTRY DANCING

Scottish Country Dancing class restarted last Monday in Cleland Community Centre. The class runs from 2pm to 3.30pm and all levels are welcome for fun, fitness and friendship.

CARLUKE

CAMERA CLUB

Friday night saw the judging of the club’s annual print competitio­n by Dougie Allan of the Beeslack Penicuik Camera Club.

A total of 84 photograph­s in ten categories including landscape, nature, sport and more were presented and Dougie judged each image very fairly giving much helpful and constructi­ve advice. Winners in the various sections included Mary Gibson, Ed Willis, Robert Hendry, Hunter Kennedy, Janet Russell and Gaille Gray. Overall winner

in League One was Janet Russell while Alasdair Martin won first place in League Two.

This Friday members are to be treated to a presentati­on Landscapes of Scotland and Scandinavi­a by Mark McColl of Ayr Photograph­ic Society. Meetings are held at 7.30pm on Fridays in St Andrews Parish Church Hall, Mount Stewart Street, Carluke and visitors and guests are always most welcome.

Now, she is hoping to inspire others as the 31-yearold launched her latest charity campaign with a spontaneou­s show.
Monica took toTwitter following the performanc­e. She said: “It was such an honour to help launch Stand UpTo Cancer today with Cancer Research by bringing opera to Glasgow Central Station.”
She later added:“Huge love and thanks to everyone for their support.”
