Easy street for troupe
The sun will come out at Airdrie town hall when two terrifically talented troupes join forces to entertain audiences.
Monklands Light Opera and its separate youth organisation will perform an adaptation of classic musical Annie next month – and tickets are up for grabs now.
Annie, the familiar tale of a young orphan living in NewYork during the Great Depression, includes iconic tunes likeTomorrow, It’s the Hard Knock Life and Easy Street, which are sure to have those in attendance singing all night long.
A Monklands Light Opera spokesperson said:“Annie is such a beloved musical and we were very keen to showcase our take on it.
“This will be the first collaboration between us and Monklands Light Opera Youth so everybody is very excited.
“We’re hoping to see as many Lanarkshire residents turn out for the shows as possible; the audiences in Airdrie town hall are always fantastic and really enjoy themselves.”
Expanding on what people can expect from the upcoming production, the spokesperson added:“The show will be directed and choreographed by Steph O’Raw and musically directed by Patrick McClair; two extremely talented members who have been with us for several years.
“The role of Annie has been double cast and she will be played by girls who are new to the club, Cassiah Fitzpatrick and RubyTucker; we are very excited to see their performances as both are exactly what you look for in Annie – funny, caring, gifted and musical marvels.
“We have many youngsters who will be performing in the choruses and with the on-stage choreography.
“Any time we prepare to unveil a new production is very exciting and rehearsals have been going really well; it’s set to be a fantastic show.”
