Hair shave plan to honour great-papa

-

Jack Brown, 14, from Craigneuk will be shaving all his hair off to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

His great-papa Billy passed away in April this year due to lung cancer.

Jack has chosen to fundraise for Macmillan so that people don’t have to suffer like his great-papa did.

Jack’s step-dad, John Speirs, said:“Jack came to us with the idea of a hair shave and wanted to raise as much as possible.

“He had a great relationship with Billy before he passed away.

“He and his brother Max would go and see Billy every day and have a laugh and talk to him.

“He went to hospital last November and even still they made all the effort to visit him when he wasn’t well.

“Jack wants to raise as much as he can so that people don’t have to suffer like Billy did.”

The Clyde Valley High pupil, much like most 14 year old boys, is obsessed with his appearance. Jack said:“My hair is a massive part of my life. “I’m always getting in trouble for playing with it and flicking it in school.”

Jack has the support of friends, family and teachers in his fundraising mission.

He said:“Everyone’s been brilliant and say they are really proud of me.

“My teachers have said they would never expect me to do something like this.”

At the time of writing Jack has raised a massive £225 for his chosen charity. “I want to raise as much as I can for Macmillan. “So far the support has been incredible, I only set my goal to £150.”
