Creep took pictures of young girls

- MIKE MCQUAID

A creep took photos of young girls from the window of his Pather home and posted them online along with sexual comments.

Ross McCarroll shared an image of one girl with an online friend and admitted he “loved watching her”.

McCarroll also told police he was attracted to a woman whose photo he’d also taken without her permission.

McCarroll, 31, a prisoner, admitted a string of charges when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

These included possessing indecent images of children and being concerned in the supply of cocaine and mephedrone worth more than £21,000.

Scott King, prosecuting, said police, acting on information from the national online child abuse prevention agency, searched his home at 7am on June 18.

McCarroll, who has no previous convictions, was there along with his parents.

During the search a safe was found in his bedroom. He produced a key from the window sill and told police: “There’s cocaine in there. I’m holding it for someone else.”

Mr King said various bags of cocaine, mixed with benzocaine, were recovered. The total street value was £8,800.

Two bags of mephedrone, a Class-B drug similar to amphetamine, were found in a shed. This was worth up to £12,300.

The prosecutor added: “A phone seized from the accused contained text messages related to the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

“McCarroll admitted he held the drugs for a supplier and said he received payment for doing that.”

Mr King said McCarroll’s phone and iPad were analysed by cybercrime officers who discovered more than 700 photographs and 19 videos of children being abused.

They also established that he had shared images online and had taken photos of females without their permission, shared these online and made comments of a sexual nature about the females.

McCarroll admitted downloading, possessing and distributing indecent images, taking pictures from a window at his home without the subjects’ permission and making comments of a sexual nature about them.

Sheriff Daniel Kelly deferred sentence until next month.

McCarroll, who remains in custody, has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
