The EU Congregational Church will be open today for prayer and reflection from 11am with a short service from 11.30am until 12 noon. Soup, tea and a chat will follow in the small hall of the church from 12 noon until 1pm. Tonight’s elders meeting is at 7pm. The morning service on Sunday is the harvest service at 11.30am with the evening service at 6.30pm, and singing group meets on Tuesday at 7pm. SHOTTS SALVATION ARMY CORPS
The prayer meeting and Bible study takes place at Shotts Salvation Army Corps on Thursday evenings at 7pm. The JAM club on Friday runs from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The Airdrie and Shotts MP pulled on a pink jacket and hat to highlight the charity’s annual fundraiser, which took place on Friday, October 18.

A grand charity event in aid of Alzheimer Scotland Action on Dementia will be hosted on November 1.
Top acts will include Jackie Clarke, Tony Andrews, Carol Paris, Liz Sloan, Gee Jay Wilson, Lynda Knight, Billy Meredith plus Close Up Magic with Stevo and Terry Mac. Raffle donations would be welcomed. The club is available for all types of functions, including charity nights, race nights, birthday parties, weddings and christenings, etc.

Regulars and friends of the Damside Inn, on Allanton Road, have come up trumps, once again, with their fundraising efforts for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The recent concert held in the pub raised an amazing £1031, and Cathy would like to thank everyone who handed in raffle prizes and supported this year’s event. Organisers would also like to thank George Simpson and Cairdies Brig who provided the entertainment on the night.
A variety of fundraising events have been held in the village over the last few months with a total of £1701 being raised. A generous local family then decided to round up the figure to a magnificent £2000. But it did not stop there, with a further £33 having been handed in which resulted in a fantastic sum of £2033 in total. A huge thank you is extended to all

The morning service in Overtown Parish Church this Sunday is at 11am.

The classes are held on Wednesdays in the hall of Overtown church, starting with a beginners’ and refreshers’ class from 12.30pm.
Followed by the main class from 1.15pm until 2.45pm, all ages and abilities are welcome. WINTER FAYRE
A winter fayre will be held in the village on Saturday, November 2, from 11am to 2pm.
Stalls will include new, or nearly new books, DVDs and CDs, as well as new or nearly new bric-a-brac and toys.
There will also be craft stalls, featuring new knitted items, handmade cards, a tombola, a non-alcoholic bottle stall, and home baking.
A tea room will be also be available on the day. Tickets, priced £3, can be purchased from Isabel George or paid for on the day of the event.
Organisers would welcome donations of items for any of the above stalls and these can be delivered to the church during the week beginning Monday, October 28, between 7pm and 8pm, and from 8pm to 9pm on the Friday, prior to the event itself.
Donations of home baking can also be dropped off at the church on the Saturday morning, from 9am to 11am. All welcome.
