Footage of all of this, and the atmosphere at Fir Park, has now encouraged football fans in France to put money into the Well Society.
Groundhopper Jack Ventoux invested in the Well Society on the back of it, and said: “Thanks Renaud Marquot for making me discover Motherwell FC and [well-known supporter] Peter Elder to have spoken about your fans community!
“It’s a real pleasure to make a little contribution to this beautiful process!”
That received thanks from Motherwell FC chief executive Alan Burrows, who said: “Really great to have you with us, Jack.”
Renaud, 37, from Grenoble, said: “It was very, very good at Motherwell!
“I don’t have enough vocabulary to say how I am grateful for the Motherwell fans and so happy about the stadium.
“It was all so unexpected, because at the beginning I planned to report in Dingwall and a trip to the Highlands, but after I was pushed out by the steward everything changed.
“The video was online, so many people commented on it and advised me to come to Motherwell because it was a derby game and the welcome would be warmer, so I changed my plans.
“I took my car rental and drove through the night from Dingwall to Motherwell.
“The town was little, but the people were very warm. I walked in the street and a lot of people said ‘hello’ to me.
“I was in the street the day before the game and thought that the stadium was beautiful from the outside, so I couldn’t wait to go inside.
“On the day of the game it was so cool, like family. Everyone called me by my name.
“Inside the stadium it was so cool, great colour, great architecture, and everything was cool, even guys on the staff of Hamilton Accies came to see me, because they had seen the video from Ross County!”
You can see for yourself that Renaud is a colourful character, and he has quite the past too – walking through Paris he once found, and returned, a credit card belonging to Princess Alexandra, daughter of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
