CARLUKE

CAMERA CLUB

There was a packed hall for the presentation from Peter Paterson at the recent meeting of Carluke Camera Club. Peter, is a highly experienced and respected award-winning photographer from Edinburgh Photographic Society. His splendidly illustrated talk, Yellowstone in Winter provided members with a flavour of his travels there, starting with images of the Madison River and Grand Teton in winter. He displayed many stunning photographs of geysers, hot springs and rivers, amid scenes thick with snow. The images also included a variety of wildlife including bison, coyote, elks, deer and wolves.

After the break Peter treated all those present to Summer in Yellowstone and Alaska. In contrast many of the Yellowstone images, which had been taken in the same locations as his previous shots, featured vast expanses of bright wild flowers and bird life.

Members were then taken to Alaska and the Brooks River, where they marvelled at images of bears as they caught sockeye salmon leaping in the falls, while wildlife including American eagles and woodpeckers were captured by Peter’s expert lens. All voted it an exceptional presentation.

This Friday’s meeting will be an interclub competition, entitled Scottish Life, between Lanark, Lesmahagow and Carluke camera clubs.

Meetings are held on Fridays in St Andrews Parish Church hall at Mount Stewart Street, Carluke at 7.30pm.

Visitors and guests are always most welcome.
