Charity is safe Haven for Our Ladies cheque
A Wishaw-based charity received a cash boost following the latest production by the Our Ladies Musical Society.
The members held a bucket collection before and after their performances of Kiss Me Kate, held recently at the Motherwell Civic Centre.
And the kind-hearted audience raised a fantastic £200 for The Haven who provide support to people affected by a range of lifelimiting illnesses, and to their family members and carers.
Society member, and keen Haven supporter, Yvonne Burns kindly nominated the charity and was delighted when the committee agreed.
The Haven’s fundraising officer Scott Cunningham said: “I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank Our Ladies Musical Society for choosing to support The Haven and also the generous attendees for their kind donations after the shows.
“As more and more individuals and families living in our communities struggle to cope with the complex emotional impact of life-limiting illness and bereavement.
“It is support from organisations like Our Ladies Musical Society’s generosity that helps to ensure that The Haven can continue to shape and deliver services which help people to manage these challenges and to live positively, with hope.”
The Haven supports people affected by illnesses such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and bereavement and will signpost others to services appropriate to their needs.
This support is provided to families at all stages of illness from point of diagnosis and beyond.
All services are tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
The Haven has drop-in centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth and they are open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, with no need for medical referral and all services are provided free of charge.
