CARLUKE

CAMERA CLUB

There was a packed meeting last Friday, February 14 when members of the Carluke camera club hosted the annual Carluke v Lanark v Lesmahagow interclub digital competition, Scottish Life.

A total of 30 digital images, with 10 from club, were expertly and sympathetically judged by Clive D. Turner, from Paisley.

Clive proved not only a very competent and expert judge, but was also very entertaining.

While the Carluke club won the contest for the 14th year in a row, members of the Lanark and Lesmahagow clubs gracefully conceded defeat.

After a splendid informal buffet, Clive kindly treated all in attendance to a presentation comprising of eight spectacular short audiovisual presentations on a wide variety of photographic subjects.

These included Scottish winter landscapes; scenes from downtown Chicago; motorcyle racing; African wildlife, through to the darkest images of Auchwitz and Birkenau concentration camps.

His presentation also covered the heights of the Breitling wingwalkers, and some amazing images of wild birds. It was a splendid evening and was enjoyed by all.

This Friday’s meeting, on February 21, will be the club’s fourth digital competition.

Meetings are held at 7.30pm on Friday evenings in St Andrews Parish Church hall, at Mount Street, Carluke.
