MOTHERWELL AND WISHAW

Morning worship this Sunday, February 23 in Dalziel St Andrew’s parish church will be led by locum minister, Rob Jones.

Assistance for those who are deaf or hard of hearing will be provided by a BSL signer and an electronic note taker.

For anyone unable to attend the services, it is available on the church’s website, www.dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk.

A live stream is also available to catchup on YouTube.

There is also a separate stream for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The men’s club meets on Monday evening in the large church hall at 7pm. The Guild meets on Tuesday afternoons at their usual time.

The Sisterhood runs on Wednesday afternoons.

The prayer group gathers each Wednesday at 1pm in the prayer room. Prayer requests are always welcomed and these can be dropped into the request box at the church or sent via the form which can be found on the church’s home page.

The induction service of the new church minister, the Rev Alistair May, will take place on the evening of Tuesday, February 25, starting at 7pm.

All members of the church community are invited to attend this special event.

Refreshmen­ts will be served in the large hall of the church after the service, to all will be made most welcome.

The Lanarkshir­e District fellowship of the Boys’ Brigade will be holding a charity concert on Saturday, February 29.

Doors will be open at 7pm, and the concert will begin at 7.30pm.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to two local charities, Hope for Autism and You are My Sunshine.

Entertainm­ent for the evening will be provided by the Wishaw and District Brigade band; the Pipers of LDF; The Jolly B’s from Stonehouse male voice choir, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra organist Mark Hindley.

Tickets cost £5, and these are available to purchase from John Williams. All welcome. BOWLING CLUB

The next meeting of the Motherwell Ladies of Steel community craft group will be held on Wednesday, February 26, between 7pm and 8.30pm in Motherwell Baptist Church, at Windmillhi­ll Street, Motherwell with visitors from Get Ahead Hats Lanarkshir­e.

The Holey Soles rambling club will travel from Alloway to Ayr for their next walk this Sunday, February 23. The coach will leave from outside St Bernadette’s church hall, at Logan’s Road, Motherwell at 10.30am. New members will be made welcome. Wishaw pop band Saint PHNX will be headlining a stage at TRNSMT festival this year. Brothers Stevie and Al Jukes were announced as the Sunday headliners of the brand new‘River’stage at Scotland’s biggest music festival. The band are fresh off releasing their debut record, DDMN, and are currently on a near sold out world tour. Stevie told the Wishaw Press:“We are buzzing to be added to the bill of our hometown festival. We have wanted to play TRNSMT ever since we started this band. “We are currently on our sold out tour in Europe so it is great to be finishing off the first half of the year playing TRNSMT.” Also appearing on the Sunday of the festival is headliner Lewis Capaldi, who the lads recently toured America with. This will be the fourth ever TRNSMT, after it took the reigns as the biggest festival in Scotland following the cancellati­on of T In The Park in 2016. 1.30pm with a light lunch day.

The cafeteria runs between 10am and 1pm on Saturdays and will see Team B on duty this week.

The worship service this Sunday, February 23 will be conducted by Reverend Terry Moran.

Upcoming events at South Wishaw church will include a Guild farmhouse tea next Monday, February 24, with entertainm­ent provided by Guys and Dolls group from St Margaret’s church, Motherwell.

The next Filling Station will be hosted in the Aroma Cafe, at Stewarton Street, Wishaw next Wednesday, February 26.

An afternoon tea will be held in the church next Saturday, February 29 at 2pm to 4pm;

There will be a stall available with gifts suitable for Mother’s Day.

The morning service this Sunday, February 23 will take place in the church at 11am, with an evening service at 6.30pm, both services will be conducted by Gordon Ross.

The ladies fellowship group will welcome Karen Hendry from The Haven at their next gathering on Monday, February 24 at 7.15pm. CHURCH

Wishaw United Reformed church service will be held in Coltness Community Centre this Sunday, February 23 at 11.15am and will be conducted by Dr John Wilcox.

Dr Wilcox will also be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the women’s union to be hosted at the same venue that afternoon at 2pm, and the Girls’ Brigade will meet every Thursday at their usual time of 6.30pm. LODGE MEETING

Lodge St Mary Coltness 31 will hold their next business meeting in the masonic hall, Wishaw this Thursday, February 20 at 7pm.

It will be followed by a MM degree which will be conferred by their sister lodge, St Maurs Kilmaurs 1398.

The annual general meeting of the Wishaw YMCA will take place on Friday, March 27 at 7pm, in St Patrick’s parochial hall, Craigneuk.

CAMBUSNETH­AN CLUB

Entertainm­ent for members and guests begins with social dancing in the concert hall and cash bingo on Thursday; cabaret and dancing plus bingo on Friday; and cabaret and dancing in the concert hall plus bingo on Saturday. Snowball of £150 and treasure chest.

Dancing and bingo is on Monday, and Slimming World class is at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.

The service this Sunday, February 23, in Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e church is at the usual time of 11.30am and will be conducted by locum minister, Mr White.

All youth organisati­ons have resumed their meetings at their usual times during the week, and members or new members are welcome.

The choir meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm and are always looking for new members.

Tickets cost £5, and can be ordered from Graeme Vincent Brigade officer.

Activities at the centre on Greenfield Drive, Wishaw this week begins on Mondays: alternativ­e dance - noon to 1pm, girls’ group for P5-7 from 6-7pm and for S1s at 7.30-9pm.

Tuesdays: Tots of Fun parents’ and toddlers’ group 9.30-11.15am, walking group meets at the centre 10.30am to noon, community café - noon to 1pm, Zumba for five to 10 year-olds 3.304.30pm, and senior bingo 6-9pm.

Wednesdays: Flash Club (after school club) 3.15-5pm during term time.

All P1-5 children are welcome to join this club; snack bar serves healthy snacks.

Children must be accompanie­d by a parent or guardian.

Football for P1s and over at the Cambusneth­an pitches 6-8pm. Thursdays: lunch club noon to 1pm. Please inform staff at the centre if you would like to attend on Tuesday, so that they can order your meal. New members welcome.

CLASSES

A computer basics course runs from 9.30-11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Mondays from 9.30-11.30am.

A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains Primary School.

It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30-3.30pm.

A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1-3pm.

South Wishaw Parish Church are hosting a delicious afternoon tea event at the church next Saturday, February 29.

A selection of handbags, purses, scarves and gloves will also be on sale during the day; tickets cost £8. FASHION SHOW

A spring fashion show will be hosted at Coltness Memorial Church on Monday, March 2 between 7pm and 9pm.

Admission costs £3, and tickets are available from Fay Parker, Margaret Murdoch or Irene Ferris at Coltness church. QUIZ NIGHT

Bonkle church will be holding their next quiz night on Friday, March 6 in the church hall at 7pm.

Tickets cost: £3 for adults, and £1 for children and these will be available from any member of the social committee.
